Why Compagnons

Classic Compagnons road spain.JPG

The Compagnons du Devoir is a French organization of craftsmen and artisans dating from the Middle Ages. Their traditional, technical education includes taking a tour, the Tour de France, around France and doing apprenticeships with masters.

Compagnonnage is a traditional mentoring network through which to learn a trade while developing character by experiencing community life and travelling.

The word compagnon is derived from the Old French compaignon, a person with whom one breaks bread.

Whilst we are not craftsmen, we think this sentiment sums up beautifully what we are aiming to achieve with our business: inspiring people to explore their passion for cycling, to create a community of like-minded souls who love to spend time learning about and from each other, who recognise that cycling can bring peace, joy, challenge, pain and suffering in equal measures.

In today’s crazy stressful world we aim to provide an escape, an environment where you can indulge yourself in the simple pleasures of fresh air, tasty food, superb company and a shared adventure on two wheels.
