How We Work

talybont looking north.JPG

We aim to create bespoke adventures for all our groups and therefore the cost will be dependent on your needs. We like to work with small groups (up to ten) so that we can provide a high level of service to everyone in the group.

So that we can create the right adventure for you, please have a think about the following questions:

  • How many days do you want to ride ?

  • How challenging do you want the cycling: daily distance, climbing, road or gravel or a bit of both ?

  • What is the range of ability in your group ?

  • What is the likely group size ?

  • Your accommodation preference: from bunkhouse to boutique hotel ?

  • When do you want to go ?

On The Road

what its like on the road

we aim to provide unbeatable service on the road, wherever we are, for all our groups and this includes

Pop up cafe

Wouldn’t it be great if, when you got to the top of that iconic climb and you were soaking in the view, there was a cafe there with comfy chairs, fresh coffee, homemade cakes and freshly prepared nutritious real food, just for you?

On a Compagnons ride that’s exactly what you can enjoy. Our pop up cafe awaits in the most scenic spots along the route.

Support vehicle

No more worrying if you need to carry spare layers or rain jackets. No more anxiety about punctures or mechanical issues. Our support vehicle is never far away with everything you need to keep you safe and sound on the road.

guides

On a Compagnons ride you know that you are riding on the quietest roads with a jaw dropping beautiful vista just around the corner. You know that you are on the right route as our guides are experienced and have researched the routes to ensure you get the most out of your time on the bike.

Off The Road

We aim to take care of everything, so that the only decision you have to make each day is which kit shall I wear.

Wales

The beauty of a Compagnons adventure in Wales is that you can stay in exactly the kind of accommodation you like, whether that’s a country house hotel, boutique B&B, cosy pub or a bunkhouse. Tell us what you’d like and we will find it.

We have got partnerships with the best accommodation in the local Brecon Beacons area and will book your choice of accommodation for you.

You need have no concerns about where you can safely store your bikes overnight, what you will do with dirty/wet kit or whether you will be welcome in the restaurant for breakfast in lycra.

We take care of all these things:

  • We will meet you on arrival at your Brecon Beacons accommodation to take your bikes and bring them directly to our secure bike store.

  • Alternatively, we can meet you from the train at Abergavenny if you would rather leave the car at home.

  • We will collect you each day after breakfast from your accommodation to bring you up to Basecamp to begin the days adventure with a full briefing over coffee on the route and its highlights.

  • You can change each morning into your cycling kit in our changing rooms and then shower and change each evening after your day on the bike. Towels and toiletries are provided for your use.

  • We have a laundry where your kit can be washed and dried overnight.

  • We have a studio where you can stretch and mobilise your muscles and joints ready for the next day’s adventure.

  • Your bikes are secure in our newly renovated bike store.

  • You will be transferred back to your accommodation to enjoy the rest of your evening.

Europe

A Compagnons adventure in Europe can involve moving on each day or could be based in a single location, depending on your needs.

Irrespective of what you choose we aim to identify hotels on our routes that combine perfect location with quality, comfort and the all important additional needs of cyclists.

We take care of all these things:

  • Our service begins at the arrival airport, where we are there to meet you.

  • Airport transfers for you and your bike are included in all our tours in Europe.

  • Hotels are fully researched and chosen specifically for the needs of cyclists. Secure bike storage is a prerequisite, as is a restaurant that recognises the appetites of hungry cyclists at the beginning and end of each day.

  • We will typically pre order a set menu for our riders that provides the right balance of nutrition for recovery and preparation for the next day’s adventure. Please let us know well in advance of any specific nutritional needs.

  • Stretching advice and routines are available on request to speed up the recovery from a long day on the road.
